Allergic Hives Treatment

If you have itchy skin with red rashes that will not go away, you may be suffering from hives. Fortunately, allergic hives treatment is available, including natural alternatives that can provide relief through remedies such as essential oils.

The most common treatment for hives is antihistamines. However, antihistamines do not treat the underlying cause of allergic hives; instead, they provide temporary relief from the itching. The first and foremost thing you need to do for successful allergic hives treatment is to determine the allergic trigger and avoid it as much as possible. You may consult an urticaria doctor to identify the causes and any other relevant disease. If there is an underlying problem or disease, that needs to be taken care of first.

You can use essential oils, including peppermint, patchouli, lavender, helichrysum, and valerian for relief. Cooling and exposing the affected area to fresh air also helps. Calamine lotion can be applied to the skin, which will provide itch relief.

Allergic Hives

Allergic hives may appear suddenly after contact with a specific allergen. They may disappear on their own within a few hours or they may last as long as six weeks or longer.

Allergic Reaction Hives

Allergic reaction hives typically occur as raised wheals on the skin, and they can be extremely itchy. These swellings may be red, white, or pale yellow, and they can appear anywhere on the body, such as the belly, neck, back, or  face. They can last as little as a few hours or they may come and go for years as long as the body continues to come into contact with the allergen.

Allergy Hives Treatment

If your allergy hives cover a small area of the body and are mildly itchy, they can be treated by taking  certain antihistamines. This reduces itching and swelling, which provides much needed relief to the patient A hives food allergy can be prevented by avoiding all allergenic foods. It may take some time to determine which foods are responsible for the outbreaks; however, by removing suspect foods from the diet one by one and taking notes, you can attack this condition with confidence.  If allergy hives are accompanied by breathing difficulty, changes in heart rate, or other symptoms of anaphylaxis, seek medical treatment immediately.

Hives and Allergic Reactions

The wheals of allergic hives may disappear after a while; however new ones may appear, making it seem as if the hives are moving. Usually, they last for a few minutes and disappear on their own. When hives last longer than six weeks or recur on a persistent basis, the condition is considered chronic, and it could be a sign of a more serious problem.
